Invitation to participate in a study - The Calm Mind Experience - Time Sensitive

Hey all!

My dear friend Rebecca, founder of Journaling.com and author of the Joy Journal, is inviting YOU to participate in her PhD research experiment.

For 7 days, you do a mindfulness practice 4 times during the day. In the evening, you send her a quick note about how it went for you that day.

I'm on Day 5 and really enjoying it.

It's super simple. Plus, the practice is addictive-in-a-good-way... I find my mind doing it automatically throughout the day.

It's free stress relief.

And it feeeels gooooooooood!

Rebecca needs 80 people to complete her study. So far, she has 50.

She asked me if I'd invite Y'ALL! And I said yes.

So here is your invite.

Last day to join is April 20th.

Love and blessings to you!

INVITATION

Dear Friend,

Would you like to be in a mindfulness study? It’s called, The Calm Mind Experience.

Sounds interesting, don’t you think?

You’ll be using a technique called, Notice, Name, Relax, Release (NNRR). It’s easy to do. You notice your feelings…name one feeling at a time, then relax and let the feeling move effortlessly through you.

The experience is for 7 days. Each day you use NNRR and then send a quick email, sharing what your experience was like with it. I will send you email reminders to help you remember.

Your participation is completely anonymous and you can drop out at any time.

Calm Mind is based on two really cool scientific studies. A study out of Harvard that showed that feelings only last 90 seconds, if we let them move naturally through us. And a study that shows that one feeling can create a thousand thoughts.

The Calm Mind Experience is a personal project for me. Proving that it is never too late, I began a PhD program in my 60s. I am loving it and I am excited to test out the Notice, Name, Relax, Release technique.

The sign-up link is below. After you sign up, you’ll receive 3 emails:

  • A short demographic survey and permission form
  • A quick, 5 question survey, and
  • Instructions on how to use Notice, Name, Relax Release

Here’s the sign-up form. Thank you very much for doing this with me.

A few years ago, one of my really good friends would talk to me about changing her eating habits. She said she wanted to do it for better health. But her underlying tone (which I heard as clear as day)... was self-disapproval, even shame. It's hard for me to watch someone I care about treat themselves harshly. She would ask me what I thought. I would say things like... "I wish you would stop beating yourself up. Your tone of voice (toward yourself) sounds demanding and harsh. You sound like...

In the last couple of months, I went through a washing machine of experiences that simply KICKED MY BUTT. After some time of grieving and feeling like "wtf just happened"... I decided to use the whole thing as an opportunity to learn and grow. A couple of weeks ago, I meditated for 3 days straight, from noon on Friday to noon on Monday. I wanted to see what was inside of me and transform what I could from the inside out. The biggest thing that blew me away was that I didn't realize how much...
